The Art of Organization

More Than Just a Cupboard

In modern homes, a wardrobe is a highly engineered storage system. At Shiv Interior & Developers, we design wardrobes from the inside out. Before we decide on the color, we audit your belongings. Do you have more sarees or western wear? Do you need a safe for valuables?

The Internal Architecture

Customization is key. A standard shelf isn't enough.

  • Hanging Space: We differentiate between long hanging (for gowns/sarees) and short hanging (for shirts/blazers).
  • Pull-out Drawers: Soft-close drawers with organizers for ties, watches, socks, and lingerie.
  • Trouser Racks: dedicated pull-outs that keep ironed trousers wrinkle-free.
  • Motion Sensor Lights: LED strips that automatically turn on when you open the wardrobe door.

Materials & Finishes

Durability starts with the core.

  • Core Material: We use MR (Moisture Resistant) or BWP Grade Plywood to prevent warping.
  • External Finishes:
    • Laminate/Sunmica: Scratch-resistant and available in matte, glossy, wood grains, and fabric textures.
    • Acryllic: For that high-end mirror gloss reflection.
    • PU Paint/Duco: For seamless, routed designs (grooves) on the shutters.

Hardware Matters

A wardrobe is opened and closed thousands of times. We never compromise on hardware. We use Soft-Close Hinges and Heavy-Duty Sliding Channels from brands like Hettich and Hafele. This ensures that even heavy doors glide effortlessly and close silently, preventing finger-trapping accidents for kids.

Questions?

Which is better: Sliding or Hinged?
Sliding doors are space-savers; they don't block the walkway when open, making them ideal for smaller rooms or corridors. Hinged (Openable) doors provide full visibility of the entire wardrobe at once and allow for pockets/hooks on the back of the doors.
What is the standard depth of a wardrobe?
The standard depth is 24 inches (2 feet). This ensures your clothes hangers fit comfortably without brushing against the doors. For sliding wardrobes, we might need 26 inches to accommodate the track mechanism.
Can you build a wardrobe around a window or beam?
Yes, expert carpentry allows us to scribe around beams and columns. We can also design bridge units (over-bed storage) or window-seat wardrobes to maximize every inch of the wall.
Do you install mirrors on the wardrobe?
Yes, mirrors can be pasted on the shutter (for hinged) or framed in the sliding profile. This eliminates the need for a separate dressing table, saving further space.
